CERAMICS COURSES
I offer a range of courses, all of which are held at my studio,The Art Loft, in Penzance Cornwall. On all courses with exception of the Raku, all materials are provided. I do recommend bringing and apron and wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We provide tea and coffee but do bring something for your lunch.
RAKU COURSES

1 DAY INTENSIVE COURSE £120 (BRING 5 PRE BISQUE FIRED POTS) or have 3 small pieces supplied. 2 small bottles and 1 small bowl
On this course multiple techniques of Raku firing are demonstrated, these include slip resist and naked Raku, obvara, glazing with lustre's and without and horsehair and feather.
Students are required to bring 5 small pre bisque fired items, one of which must be burnished. 1 larger item is allowed but can be no bigger than a 1litre milk carton, this is due to space in the kiln. They must all be made from white Raku specific clay. I would highly recommend the clay available from POTCLAYS

MOULD & TEXTURE COURSES
1 DAY COURSE £125 (ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED)
You will construct a 1 piece mould. We will go into the surrounding areas and cast interesting surfaces and textures we find using silicone.

IIn the morning we will leave and either go to the beach, tide permitting, or to a local woodland where we will take moulds from various surfaces using potter's plaster and silicone. After lunch, back in the Studio, we will make tiles and a small item using the gathered textures transferred to clay slabs.
MEDITATE & PAINT/PRINT COURSES

In the morning we will have a Woodland bathing session. Woodland bathing, also known as forest bathing or shinrin-yoku, is a Japanese practice of taking time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of a forest. It involves slow, mindful immersion in nature, often through activities like walking, sitting, and sensory observation, with the goal of improving health and wellbeing. We will gather small items of foliage or other plant material which will then be used in the afternoon to create monoprints and paintings as a lastin memento of the day.
