CERAMICS COURSES
I offer a range of courses, all of which are held at my studio in St Keverne, Cornwall. On all courses with exception of the Raku, all materials are provided. I do recommend bringing and apron and wearing clothes you don,t mind getting dirty. We provide tea and coffee but do bring something for your lunch. Roskillys where we are based has a cafe and ice cream parlour if you prefer.
THROWING COURSES
This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate potters. There will be no more than six students per course, so plenty of one on one attention.
ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED
1 DAY COURSE £140 per person
You will learn to wedge and prepare the clay ready for throwing, then centre open and pull the clay on a wheel.
You will amaze yourself at the pots you are throwing by the end of the day.
Your two favourite pieces are turned, bisque fired and glazed for you, then shipped to your home.
2 DAY COURSE £280
You will do day 1 as above and on the second day you will learn how to turn the pots you made on day 1. There is also time for you to hone your newly acquired skills during the day.

RAKU COURSES
1 DAY INTENSIVE COURSE £150 (BRING 10 PRE BISQUE FIRED POTS)
On this course multiple techniques of Raku firing are demonstrated, these include slip resist and naked Raku, obvara, glazing with lustre's and without and horsehair and feather.
Students are required to bring 10 small pre bisque fired items, three of which must be burnished. 1 larger item is allowed but can be no bigger than a 1litre milk carton, this is due to space in the kiln. They must all be made from white Raku specific clay. I would highly recommend the clay available from POTCLAYS
2 DAY COURSE £250 (BRING 20 PRE BISQUE FIRED POTS, 10 OF WHICH ARE BURNISHED)
On day 1 you will do a pit fire, please bring your own combustible such as corn husks, banana skins, coffee grounds or seaweed for decorating your pots.
On day 2 you will do the Raku as above.
HAND BUILD COURSES
1 DAY COURSE £125 (ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED)
On this course you will make either a small Lidded Pot or a small Birdhouse.
I will provide you with a template and teach you the construction techniques of scoring and slipping, You will then decorate the surface using impress textures and underglaze colours.
3 DAY COURSE £375
On this course you will make either a Bird Bath Garden Ornament or a Cornish Engine House
I will provide you with a template and teach you the construction techniques of scoring and slipping, You will then decorate the surface using impress textures and underglaze colours.
All pieces are clear glazed and fired before shipping to your home.
MOULD MAKING COURSES
1 DAY COURSE £125 (ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED)
You will construct a 1 piece mould. We will go into the surrounding areas and cast interesting surfaces and textures we find using silicone.
2 DAY COURSE £250
You will construct a 2 part mould on day 1. We will go into the surrounding areas and cast interesting surfaces and textures we find using silicone.
On day 2 you will make 6 tiles using the textures you cast on day 1.
